Terms of Service
These terms are the agreement between you and Mnema for using the website, the apps and the AI features. They are written to be read. If anything is unclear, ask us before you rely on it.
The short version
- Mnema is in a free test launch: nothing can be bought, plans and credits are given by invitation, and things may change or break while we learn.
- Your content is yours. We use it to run the service for you and, during the test, to support you and improve Mnema, as the Privacy Policy explains. Publishing to the shared library lets other learners use it for their own study.
- AI-generated material can be wrong. Review it before you rely on it; it is not professional advice.
- Credits pay for AI actions. Monthly credits renew every 30 days and do not carry over; extra credits do not expire. Undoing a draft does not give credits back.
- Each plan includes storage for the pictures and sounds in your cards and the files they came from. At the limit, new uploads wait until you make room; nothing is deleted.
- Be a good neighbour: no illegal, infringing or abusive content, no scraping, no attempts to break the AI or the limits.
1. The agreement
By creating an account or using Mnema you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy. Mnema is provided by Yevhen Maltsev, Warsaw, Poland. You must be at least 16 years old, give accurate information, and keep one account for yourself.
Test launch. Mnema is being released to a first group of invited users to learn from real use. It is free during the test: payments are switched off and plans are given by invitation. Features may change, be removed or occasionally fail, and we may limit, pause or reset test plans and credits. We will tell you about changes that affect your data.
2. What Mnema provides
- Flashcards and quizzes you create yourself, with formatting for formulas, code, pictures, sounds and image occlusion.
- Imports from Anki, CSV and text files; exports of your decks and quizzes as Anki packages, CSV or text files.
- Spaced repetition and cram study modes, statistics, a leaderboard and study reminders.
- A shared library where learners publish and import study material.
- Mnemo, an AI assistant that creates cards and questions from a topic, your notes, documents, slides, photos or lecture recordings, researches the web with cited sources, and answers study questions.
- Storage for the pictures and sounds in your cards and for the files your AI cards came from, within your plan's limit.
We may add, change or remove features. Where a change removes something you rely on, we try to give notice and a way to export.
3. Your account
You are responsible for what happens under your account. Keep your password private, keep the Google account you sign in with secure if you use Sign in with Google, and consider turning on two-factor authentication. If you lose your recovery codes and your authenticator, we may not be able to restore access. Tell us promptly if you believe your account was used without permission.
Your display name, bio and profile picture are visible to other learners in the shared library, and your display name on the leaderboard. Do not use a name or picture that impersonates someone or that you have no right to use.
4. Your content
Everything you create, import or upload stays yours. You give us the permission we need to host, store, back up, display, process and transmit it to our providers solely to run the service for you and, during the test, to support you and improve Mnema as the Privacy Policy explains, including sending material to the AI providers when you use Mnemo and keeping the files your AI cards came from while those cards exist. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies in backups on their normal rotation, content you published to the shared library, the copy of an AI chat attached to a problem report you sent or kept by a thumbs down you gave on an AI draft, and the copy of the cards or questions a rating keeps, which end when that report or rating is deleted.
Problem reports and thumbs ratings on AI drafts, with the copies they keep, may be read by a person on our team to understand and fix what went wrong.
You must have the rights to what you upload. Do not import or upload material you are not allowed to use, other people's personal data, or anything unlawful. Recording a lecture may need the permission of the lecturer or your institution; get it before you upload the recording. We may remove content that breaks these terms and, for repeated or serious violations, close the account.
6. The AI assistant
Mnemo is a study aid. It can misunderstand, invent, or cite a source that does not say what it claims. You are responsible for reviewing generated cards, questions and answers before you learn from them. Nothing it produces is medical, legal, financial or other professional advice, and it is not a substitute for official study materials or a teacher.
Research-based material is built from public web pages and, for medicine and health, from open access literature and official drug labels; these belong to their owners and are cited on the item. Diagrams are attached only under permissive licenses, with attribution shown. Generated material may resemble material produced for other users who ask for the same topic.
Web research is part of Plus and Pro. It has a daily limit per learner and a monthly limit for the whole service, and pauses when either is reached; your own files, notes and recordings still work then. Mnemo runs at most two generations for you at a time.
Do not use Mnemo to produce unlawful, harmful or infringing content, to obtain its instructions or bypass its limits, or in ways that overload the service. We may refuse requests and rate-limit accounts.
7. Credits, plans and payments
AI actions use credits. Each card or quiz question costs one credit, plus a small fee for each run. Reading a picture or a scanned page, transcribing a recording (by the minute) and each web search have their own prices, and a chat message is charged by the AI work it really takes; a short reply that uses no tool is free. No action is charged less than what its AI work really cost us plus a small margin, so an unusually heavy run can cost more than its listed price. The app shows your balance, and an estimate before a run.
A run that delivers nothing gives back what it charged, except web searches already made; a recording or scanned file that cannot be read is refunded. Undoing an approved draft removes its cards but does not give credits back.
- Free: 200 credits every 30 days and 200 MB of storage. Web research is not included.
- Plus: $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year, with 3,000 credits every 30 days and 5 GB of storage.
- Pro: $19.99 a month or $149.99 a year, with 8,000 credits every 30 days and 30 GB of storage.
- Credit packs, for Plus and Pro: 1,000 credits for $4.99 or 4,000 credits for $14.99.
- Extra storage, for any plan: packs of 10 GB at $1.99 a month each, 1 to 10 packs.
Prices are in US dollars. Monthly credits renew every 30 days; unused monthly credits do not carry over. Extra credits (from packs or bonuses) are used after your monthly credits and do not expire. Storage holds the pictures and sounds in your cards, quizzes and deck covers and the files kept as sources; at the limit, new pictures, sounds and files are refused until you make room, and nothing already stored is deleted because you are over it.
During the test launch payments are switched off: nothing can be bought and none of these prices is charged. Plans and credits are given by invitation, and test plans, test credits and bonus credits are a courtesy: we may change or end them at any time. Ending a test plan returns the account to Free and removes what is left of the credits it gave.
Once payments open, prices are shown before you pay and at checkout; subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period. Payments will be processed by Stripe under its own terms. Credits already used are not refundable; statutory consumer rights, including the right of withdrawal where it applies, are not affected.
8. Acceptable use
- No unlawful, infringing, defamatory, hateful or harassing content or behaviour.
- No uploading of malware, no probing or attacking the service, no interference with other users.
- No scraping, bulk downloading or automated access beyond normal use of the apps.
- No reselling access, sharing accounts, or circumventing credits, limits or payment.
- No impersonation of Mnema, its team or other users.
9. Third-party content and services
Mnema links to and draws on third-party websites, models and services, including the web pages used for research, images from open license sources, the AI and email providers, and, once payments open, the payment provider. We do not control their content or availability, and their own terms apply to them.
10. Our intellectual property
Mnema's software, design, brand and documentation belong to us or our licensors. These terms do not give you any right to them beyond using the service. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without obligation to you.
11. Ending the agreement
You may stop using Mnema at any time and delete your account in Settings; it is erased 14 days later unless you log in again within that time. Export your decks and quizzes first if you want to keep them. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, that create legal or security risk, or when we discontinue the service, giving notice where we reasonably can. Sections 4 to 6 and 10 to 13 continue to apply after the agreement ends.
12. Warranties and liability
During the test launch Mnema is provided as is and as available. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or that generated material will be accurate or fit for a particular purpose.
To the extent the law allows, our total liability for all claims relating to the service in any twelve-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period, or fifty euros if you paid nothing. We are not liable for indirect losses such as lost data you did not export, lost profits or missed exam results. Nothing in these terms limits liability for intent or gross negligence, for death or personal injury, or any liability that cannot be limited under the law that applies to you, and nothing removes your rights as a consumer.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product develops. For material changes we give notice in the app or by email before they take effect. If you keep using Mnema after that date, the new terms apply; if you do not agree, stop using the service and delete your account in Settings.
14. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the law of Poland, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live. Please contact us first with any dispute; most things can be sorted out quickly: write to hello@mnema.me.
