Slides to flashcards

Turn lecture slides into flashcards

Drop in the slide deck from today's lecture. Mnema writes flashcards and quiz questions from what is actually on the slides, and every card made from them tells you which slide it came from and how much of it the AI added.

How it works

  1. 1

    Add the slides

A PowerPoint file (.pptx) or the PDF export, up to 25 MB and 500 slides. Keynote and Google Slides decks work once exported to either format.

  2. 2

    Say what you need

Mnema asks a few quick questions first: what the cards are for, how detailed they should be and which deck they go into.

  3. 3

    Check, then study

Every draft shows the text it came from, its slide number and whether a second check found it on the slide. Keep, edit or delete it, then study with spaced repetition, cram mode or a quiz.

Slides are short. The cards say what they added.

Slides are written in fragments, so an AI is tempted to fill the gaps. Mnema marks what it added: a card that only rewords the slide says “wording added by AI”, and a card that needed general knowledge says so instead of pretending the slide said it.

If you have the lecture recording too, attach it with the slides. Cards from the recording name roughly when the lecturer said it, cards from the slides name the slide number.

Diagrams on your slides

On Plus and Pro, pictures inside a PowerPoint file can come along onto the cards they belong to, and a labelled diagram can become an image occlusion card: Mnema hides the labels and asks you to name them one at a time.

Questions

Which slide formats work?

PowerPoint (.pptx) and PDF, up to 25 MB and 500 slides or pages. Export Keynote or Google Slides decks to one of those first.

Can I see which slide a card came from?

Yes. Before you save, every card made from your file shows its passage and slide number, so you can check it against the deck in a second. After saving, a quote icon in your card list still names the file and slide, and in study the card's source panel opens your deck inside Mnema at that slide, with the sentence highlighted. Mnema keeps the deck as a PDF while its cards exist, if your storage has room.

Can I make a quiz from my slides instead?

Yes. Ask for quiz questions and each one shows its source the same way.

Is Mnema free?

Mnema is free during invite-only early access. Request early access and start with your own slides.

Make cards you can check

Before you save, each AI card shows its passage and its page, slide, time or web page, says how far to trust it, and says whether a second check found it in the source.
