What's new

Latest from Mnema

What changed in Mnema, newest first.

  1. Straight to the sentence, and back to Anki

    • Where this came from opens your PDF, slides or Word file right inside Mnema at the card's page or slide, runs to the sentence and highlights it. This works for cards saved from 3 October, while the file fits in your storage. A picture taken from a PDF gets an outline.
    • Slides (.pptx) and Word files (.docx) are kept as a PDF while their cards exist, when your storage has room, so they open at the very slide too.
    • Export a deck, a quiz or all your decks as an Anki package, named after your deck. For decks, tick Include my review progress and Anki knows when each card is due. Every deck says it was made with Mnema.
    • Anki decks you import keep their schedules and review history, so what you already know stays known. Those old answers never count toward your streak or daily goal, and leaderboard points come only from studying: an imported card scores once you review it in Mnema.
    • Ask Mnemo a plain question and it answers from what it knows. On Plus and Pro it searches the web when you ask for sources or the question is about something recent, like the latest guidelines.
    • When your notes hold fewer cards than you asked for, Mnemo says so and offers to add the rest from general knowledge, marked as such. It never fills the gap quietly.
    • Cards from slides and lectures cite their own slide or moment, long quotes end on a whole sentence, and cards from a lecture cover all of it, not just the start.
    • Several decks in one request: two decks from two files keep each file's cards apart, "6 decks of 2 cards" makes 2 in each, and two cards on the same fact become one.
    • A request sent twice by accident starts one run, charged once.
    • Image occlusion reads labels printed inside a drawing, keeps labels over two lines in order, handles transparent pictures and keeps a hard to read label whole, so "Myelinsheath" is "Myelin sheath" again.
    • Push reminders reach your phone or computer once you allow notifications in Settings, Notifications. The daily goal takes 1 to 500, and a mistake shows right under the field.
    • Formulas in the Cards list show as formulas, not as LaTeX code.
    • A study session's time adds up the time on each card and question, at most 5 minutes each, and pauses while the page is hidden, so a long break no longer inflates it.
    • Moving between pages no longer flashes a loading screen, and Continue with Google works again after the browser's Back button.
    • The storage meter shows a small amount in its own unit, so a few pictures never read as 0 of 30 GB.
    • German and Polish read more naturally: the study modes are Wiederholen and Pauken, and results count "5 pytań" the Polish way.
    • The live demo leads with medicine and law: a lecture on the cardiac cycle, a labelled heart diagram and GDPR slides.
  2. Reminders, sources and three new languages

    • Study reminders: one a day at most, around the hour you usually study, and only when there is something to do. For each kind (due cards, your streak and daily goal, drafts waiting for review) pick Push and email, Push, Email or Off. Your daily goal is yours to set, too.
    • Where this came from: an AI card in study shows the passage it was built from. For cards saved from 3 October it also plays a recording from about the moment, or opens the page or photo, while the file is kept.
    • From 3 October, the files your cards came from (PDFs, recordings and photos) are kept while those cards exist, when your storage has room. Find them in Settings, Billing, Sources, and remove any you no longer need. Storage now counts the pictures and sounds in your cards too.
    • Mnema speaks Polish, French and Italian, and so does Mnemo. Every error message is translated as well.
    • Cards turn over with a proper flip in study (type the answer and image occlusion cards reveal in place), and the editor preview and the AI review flip when you click the card.
    • Quizzes keep the explanation behind Show explanation, and after a right answer you decide whether the quiz moves on by itself.
    • Monthly AI credits doubled on every plan, and chatting with Mnemo costs fewer credits than before.
    • Reported a bug? When the fix is out, we tell you, with a thank you.
  3. Many decks from one message

    • Ask for a deck and a quiz, or up to ten decks or quizzes on different topics, in one message. Each keeps its own count, and on Plus and Pro every topic is researched.
    • Mnemo builds cram decks too: say cram, or tell it the exam is this week.
    • Attach up to 8 files and pictures to one message (pictures on Plus and Pro). Every one is read, and a card from a recording says roughly when it was said.
    • On Plus and Pro, photos of your notes and word lists become a card for each entry, copied as written when you ask.
    • On Plus and Pro, image occlusion takes several diagrams in one go, reviewed together, with a card for each diagram.
    • Answer "I don't know" to one of Mnemo's questions and you get help choosing, then the question again. Nothing starts on a guess.
    • The shared library previews cards and quizzes the way the editor draws them, pictures and masks included, and publishing again opens on what is already public.
  4. Cards show their source

    • AI cards made from your material or the web show where they came from: hover the quote mark in the Cards list to see the source, with the file name and page for your own files. Cards from general knowledge say so. Something off? Report it right from study.
    • Generation keeps going when you close the tab or lose the connection. Your chat, its questions and its drafts are all there after a reload.
    • Ask the chat to change a draft that is waiting for review ("make them shorter", "drop card 4") and it edits that draft instead of starting over.
    • Cards and questions come in the language you write in, and language decks offer every level from A0 to C2.
    • Bigger material: scanned PDFs up to 40 pages are read too, an MP3 or WAV recording can be up to 120 MB and an hour long, and on Plus and Pro the diagrams inside a file can become image occlusion cards.
    • On Plus and Pro, research on medicine and health also reads open access medical reviews and, for a medicine, its official US drug label.
    • Paste files straight into the chat, and press Tab to accept the reply Mnemo predicts.
  5. Hello, first testers

    • Mnema went live at mnema.me for its first invited testers. Thank you for being early.
    • Continue with Google: sign in with your Google account. Two-factor authentication still applies if you turned it on.
    • On Plus and Pro, topics without notes are researched on the web: Mnemo reads pages it judges reliable and shows which page each card came from. Cards written from general knowledge are marked.
    • Mnemo asks what a good tutor would (your goal, level, scope or card shape) in one card, then gets to work.
    • Generated cards can be studied both ways.
    • Delete a chat from Recent chats: it is erased at once, along with any draft still waiting in it. The cards you saved from it stay.
    • Report a problem on an AI card or question while you study or review it.
    • A shaky connection no longer signs you out. Also new: a Privacy Policy and Terms of Service written to be read.
  6. Meet Mnemo

    • Mnemo, the AI assistant, arrives in a chat. Tell it what you are learning or add notes or a file, and get flashcards or quiz questions. On Plus and Pro it also reads photos and turns diagrams into image occlusion cards.
    • Before it writes, Mnemo asks one short round about what it still needs, such as your goal or which deck, with options to tap.
    • Every draft opens in a review first: edit any card, leave out the ones you don't want, and add the rest to a new or existing deck or quiz, ready to study.
    • A chat remembers the pictures and files you gave it, so a follow-up request can use them again.
  7. Dashboard and leaderboard

    • A new dashboard: due cards, streaks, retention, a study calendar and a knowledge graph that grows as you learn.
    • A leaderboard, this week or all time, for a little friendly competition.
    • Clearer screens for the shared library and for quizzes.
  8. Imports, plans and credits

    • Import your decks from Anki (.apkg or .colpkg), CSV and text files as fully editable Mnema decks, with Anki's pictures and sounds.
    • Free, Plus and Pro plans, each with its own AI credits and storage. Buying a plan, extra credits or more storage is not open yet.
    • AI credits: a clear monthly allowance per plan and a visible balance.
    • Browse all your cards in one list, open any card to edit it, and pause or delete cards right there.
    • Formulas, code and sheet music in cards.
  9. The study engine, sharing and exports

    • Scheduling moved to FSRS for better-timed reviews; cram mode for deadlines.
    • Quizzes: multiple choice, multiple response and short answer, with results.
    • Two-factor authentication with recovery codes, email verification and password reset.
    • The shared library: publish decks and quizzes, discover and import what others made, report problems.
    • Export decks and quizzes. Your decks, cards and quizzes refresh when you come back to Mnema in another tab or on another device.
    • A polished dark theme, tooltips, and calmer loading states.
  10. Mnema begins

    • Decks, cards and a card editor with images and audio.
    • Spaced review sessions and the first dashboard.
    • Accounts, settings and the marketing site.
